We've assembled a reference list of over 200 scholarly articles about social media that focus on academic research on the "big three" social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. We decided to focus on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in order to make the scope of the bibliography more manageable; nevertheless, we've uncovered over two hundred articles!
For your convenience, the social media research bibliography can be downloaded as an Excel Spreadsheet.
All articles, current up to March 2012, appear in peer reviewed journals or SSRN, and span a wide range of areas including Marketing, Economics, Psychology, Communication, Information Systems, Computer Science, and Human Computer Interaction.
Researchers may find the literature review to be useful in identifying and citing current research in social media. We hope that this broad list of scholarly articles will be found useful for anyone doing work related to Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
