Terms of Use


The UCR Sloan Center site on the Ning Network seeks to foster aquality social networking environment for its users. We monitor our site and will delete inappropriate content and/or ban members who violate either the UCR Sloan Center site’s terms or Ning.com’s terms for “Acceptable Use and Conduct” (as stipulated in Section 14 of the Ning.com Terms of Service at http://about.ning.com/tos.php). Users who violate the terms of use will be prohibited from joining and/or posting content on the UCR Sloan Center social networking site.

Membership Requests
Once you join the UCR Sloan Center social networking site, we will review your request for membership. We do this to ensure quality signups and prevent spam. Due to our anti-spam policy, we routinely decline bogus membership requests. Examples of bogus signups and spam behavior include, (but are not limited to):
    • Multiple accounts set up by one party.
    • False, misleading, mismatching and/or conflicting profile information.
    • Use of profile photos depicting company logos.
    • Registering accounts with email addresses tied to known phishers and/or spammers. Profile text with links to Web sites advertising businesses wholly unrelated to the subject areas relevant to the UCR Sloan Center (i.e. essay services, medical or cosmetic procedures, food products).
    • Profile text that is essentially nonresponsive to the profile questions, lacks coherency and/or is replicated verbatim on other sites as spam.

      Causes for Immediate Termination of Accounts
      We monitor our site for any actions that violate the UCR Sloan Center and Ning.com Terms of Use. The UCR Sloan Center reserves the right to remove member access without warning for any violations of the terms. Once an account has been banned, all user content is lost. Actions that are cause for immediate termination of approved member accounts include:
      • Posting spam, as described above, in profile pages, blog posts, as comments on others’ blog posts, etc.
      • Posting content (either in profile pages, blog posts, as comments on others’ blog posts, or as links) and/or photos (either as profile photos, account photos, or albums) of a sexually explicit or pornographic nature.
      • Soliciting dates or sex via email or as comments on other members’ blog posts. The UCR Sloan Network is not a dating site, and any action deemed offensive to other members will be deleted and the member in question banned.

        If you feel you have been unfairly banned, please contact the network administrator.

        Reporting Abuse
        If you feel a member is violating any of the UCR Sloan Center or Ning.com Terms of Use, you can report it to the network administrator by clicking on the “Report Abuse/Spam” button on the right-hand navigational menu of each page. Please include a link to the page in question. Abuse reports will remain confidential.
