Would this amount to sacrilege?

I nearly threw the message away. An exhibition seemed a century away. It would not do for the Internet-savvy to be seen at such a do.

"Let me go for old time's sake". I mulled over the idea of attending.

A call from a dear friend sealed the matter. "Please come over and look in at our booth". It was a request beyond refusa… Continue

Training Investments for Early Market Entry

"Can you cut back on this?"

You can bet your life the question was really a suggestion. I had booked an entire Cyber-Cafe with multiple work-stations for an entire week-end. My accounts people were aghast at the size of the invoice I had landed-this for something that seemed to have nothing to do with the core business of serving a farming community.

A helping hand

"What if the retailer does not know how to use the Internet?"

It was tempting to use an expletive, but better sense took hold of me.

"Enter the order on his or her behalf".

My colleagues were satisfied with this response and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, there are plenty of Internet classes available all over India. I cannot afford to sit in judgment over fellow-citizens who finished school before this Millennium dawned. It makes sense to lend a helping hand to each person willin… Continue

No Obstacle Path to Zero

The siesta interregnum was welcome. The contents of the telephone call less so.

My potential (huge) client was full of it:

"The logistics are impossible".

"Our people are just not ready for this".

"It's fine if you can make something simple".

"Your proposal is not clear".

I was ready with a diatribe on the imperative for a pioneering spirit to go with a novel internet retailing venture. However, I kept my lips firmly shut, and agreed to rejoin the issue at a future face-to-face meeting.

Hi Satya, thanks for your feedback. It's nice to discuss with you. I will keep sending you things. Have your already written you dissertation ? It's cool that you are based in Mumbai. I'm in Alcante which is south east Spain. By the way, I'm happy cause I've just got published a comment in the national press of Bhutan ! which is rather far away from here : ) http://www.bhutanobserver.bt/2009/letters/11/man-will-not-forget-the-art-of-writing.html Regards, Antonio

Hi Satya, After 2 days of work I have finally got to understand what online consumer behaviour research is, how it fits within the internet marketing discipline, how differentiates from HCI Human Computer Interaction, how it differentiates from e-commerce and, perhaps most importantly how all cross discipline OCB models are starting to emerge off the ground now. If you ever need info on this now you know who has it and can share it with you. Regards, Antonio

Hi and thanks, I have already runned a large nation wide experiment but my question is more about writing my discussion of theories: how to put them together so they result neat on the dissertation. According to what I read, this area of research is still quite new and that is why I feel that there is a lot of unconnected research, so if I discuss the theories I have listed and relate them to my purpose, will this be enough ? Thanks again for your very kind help and offering, Antonio

Hi Satyabroto, thanks for your reply. I have seen a little about your work, very interesting, congratulations : )

My main question is:

I need to write a framework discussing different online consumer behavior theories and I get a little confused as I'm not sure if its the same thing as online consumer adoption theories. On the other hand I am reading that lots of the literature is quite dispersed so I thought about dedicating about 8 pages revising and discussing these theories and how they relate to my purpose, and stop !. What do you think ? Antonio: antonio.hyder@gmail.com

Technology acceptance model (Davis, 1989)
Theory of planned behaviour (Ajzen, 1991) + Pavlou 2006 Extensión
Innovation Diffusion Theory
Theory of Reasoned Action (Ajzen and Fishbein, 1980 )
Consumer Decision Model (Engel, Blackwell and Miniard, 1995)
Theory of Flow (Csikszentmihalyi (1975),
Motivation-Ability-Opportunity
Expectatation-Confirmation Theory
Media Richness Theory
Personal Innovativeness of Information Technology - PIIT
Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)
OSAM - Shopping acceptance

Dear Satyabroto, I see you are active in writing in the community : ) so i would like to ask you if you are knowledgeable with the boundaries of online consumer behavior. I need to write 8 pages and some focus would be very valuable. Thanks in advance, Antonio
