I am trying to figure out ideas that will lead to the creation of an interactive shopping website that goes beyond just looking at pictures, enlarging the view, and adding to the cart. I do not know the current level of what is possible and would greatly appreciate some of your ideas. I want to appeal to the global market place and plan the site to be multi-lingual.

Would this amount to sacrilege?

I nearly threw the message away. An exhibition seemed a century away. It would not do for the Internet-savvy to be seen at such a do.
"Let me go for old time's sake". I mulled over the idea of attending.
A call from a dear friend sealed the matter. "Please come over and look in at our booth". It was a request beyond refusa…

"Can you cut back on this?"
You can bet your life the question was really a suggestion. I had booked an entire Cyber-Cafe with multiple work-stations for an entire week-end. My accounts people were aghast at the size of the invoice I had landed-this for something that seemed to have nothing to do with the core business of serving a farming community.

You…

"What if the retailer does not know how to use the Internet?"
It was tempting to use an expletive, but better sense took hold of me.
"Enter the order on his or her behalf".
My colleagues were satisfied with this response and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, there are plenty of Internet classes available all over India. I cannot afford to sit in judgment over fellow-citizens who finished school before this Millennium dawned. It makes sense to lend a helping hand to each person willin…

The siesta interregnum was welcome. The contents of the telephone call less so.
My potential (huge) client was full of it:
"The logistics are impossible".
"Our people are just not ready for this".
"It's fine if you can make something simple".
"Your proposal is not clear".
I was ready with a diatribe on the imperative for a pioneering spirit to go with a novel internet retailing venture. However, I kept my lips firmly shut, and agreed to rejoin the issue at a future face-to-face meeting.
G…

Novak, Thomas P. "Quality of Virtual Life (QOVL)" Draft of chapter to appear in “Transformative Consumer Research for Personal and Collective Well Being: Reviews and Frontiers, Mick, D., Pettigrew, S., Pechmann C., and Ozanne, J. Eds.
This chapter begins with an overview of virtual worlds and people’s motivations for using them. As Second Life is currently the dominant example of a fully realized virtual world, many of our examples are based upon Second Life, but our discussion is relevant to a…

Many if not most new product or service offerings fail to achieve their hoped-for market acceptance or do so only after long and expensive trial and error. To improve these odds, some companies have begun working more directly with customers to “co-create” innovations. This raises the question: Who are the “best” consumers to engage in this way? Some look to “lead users,” others to especially “innovative” consumers.

Various sort of work is outsourced these days to several Asian countries as internet has made it easy to assign work internationally. BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) have become popular throughout the international market. Legal Process Outsourcing is one such field of KPO that has become very popular these days. In this field, a legal practice law firm assigns its legal work to the third party as it saves their time and effort. This outsourcing of the…

With globalization on a full fledging spree; innovative business concepts like offshore outsourcing continue to make a long lasting impact upon business houses. In simple words; when a company operating in America hands over some of its business functions or tasks to another
outsourcing company in India for a specified period of time, it is said to be a case of offshore outsourcing.

I just read
Dave Hamel's post, "
Retail Categories With No Facebook Fans: What To Do", and he really framed social media strategy in a way I may not have done yet, despite my efforts.
You see, there are levels of engagement for businesses:
Level 1: Social media is not something I'm interested in.
Level 2: I'm interested in social media…

If you’re a retailer in a category that has low consumer engagement, where purchase is very infrequent and there’s little consumer affiliation with your brand, there is a strong possibility that you don’t have a lot of Facebook fans with whom to communicate.
For you, this part of social media is - feh.
The mattress category is a great example. I don’t know how often a normal person buys a mattress, but for me it’s less often than a car. Maybe even less often than a house. So, why would I want…

Offshore outsourcing has become a new mantra of success for the developed as well as under developing company. It is but obvious that these days almost all the people are aware about the meaning of outsourcing yet for reminding everyone that offshore outsourcing means to hire a third party to do the work of our business. There are several advantages of this system to both the clients and the people who work for them. Outsourcing has been the primary source for bringing in billions of foreign cur…

Last night I was cooking some dinner for my family, and I had a thought. I know weird huh? Anyways, as I was boiling some water, for some odd reason, I had a flashback to my High School science days.
I remembered learning that water boils at exactly 212 degrees. Not at 211, but it has to reach exactly 212 degrees before it will start boiling. That one degree is the difference between perfectly cooked food, or just good food.
I started to think, as I stirred some spaghetti noodles, do I have wh…

I just read a blog by Jeremy Blanton about the
real estate company suing over a tweet. I got to thinking about what I would do if this type of thing happened to my business.
What if someone didn't like something about their interaction with me, and posted it in social media for everyone to see? What would I do?
I can think of 3 different ways to han…
