I am trying to figure out ideas that will lead to the creation of an interactive shopping website that goes beyond just looking at pictures, enlarging the view, and adding to the cart. I do not know the current level of what is possible and would greatly appreciate some of your ideas. I want to appeal to the global market place and plan the site to be multi-lingual.

There are a lot of people who are educated who are always looking for new unique ways to innovate how people surf around the web today. Although it can be crucifying, (I would know because I solely operate a blog on how to make money, http://mooladays.com/) if your website has an edge and follows with creativity, people will make the switch.

But just be warned, launching a massive media site like Twitter of Facebook, consumes a lot of time to promote before it becomes big. Before making this massive decision, I'd advise you to first decide if you are capable of dedicating to this one project and then start from there.

Whats missing in the online shopping world (apart from integrity sometimes) is the reality side of things. Pictures and graphics no matter how good, often cannot replace touching, holding, smelling etc. the real thing. If you can bring more realism to virtual shopping you will have a differentiator of note.
