What's the ROI of Putting on Your Pants?

For those who are still looking for information on social media ROI after the last post, here are some choice quotes from social media bloggers:

Social Media Explorer: The problem with trying to determine ROI for social media is you are trying to put numeric quantities around human interactions and conversations, which are not quantifiable.

Altitude Branding: You cannot calculate a return on anything unless you know whether or not your goals - and your definitions of both Return and Investment - are the right ones.

Claremunn.com: Obama, as part of his comprehensive marketing campaign invested heavily in social media for his campaign and his return on the investment was winning the election.

Beth Harte:Social media isn’t a silver bullet for spiking sales and revenues.

On Mashable: Regardless of how your company chooses to measure engagement, is that you have a success metric in mind before you begin.

WebSuccessDiva: Measuring success in your social media marketing is like any other form
of business decision making process, you’ve got to understand what your
doing, where you want to go, how you plan to get there, and as you
proceed, are you getting where you need to go by doing what you’re
doing.

SearchEngineLand: While the so-called derivative intangibles or qualitative advantages of
social media marketing are not as easy to measure or widely understood, there are numerous quantitative
advantages (ROI) that make it a viable and incredibly valuable
proposition.

Conversation Agent
: Let's not forget that ROI is not always about cash. What about another kind of influence?
Less directly measurable, yet sometimes more powerful. What actions are
people taking as a result of reading or engaging with you? Are they
buying your products? Are they telling you about their needs? Are they
requesting to speak with someone from your company? Are they willing to
provide testimonials and referrals to you?

And here is a video on this very question.

It's times like these, that you really have to ask yourself something. "What's the ROI on putting my pants on in the morning?"

Alright, maybe you have to watch the video to get that.

Great montage of quotes. Thanks including the quote, the point of which, ROI should be measured in terms of goals and objectives rather than money.

It is incredibly difficult to convince clients that you Social Media Marketing is more difficult and vague to measure. And that is a GOOD thing!
