UCR Sloan Center for Internet Retailing

On June 1, 2009 Microsoft launched their new 'Bing' search engine, or as they call it, 'decision engine.' Along with the new search engine, Microsoft unleashed a multi-million dollar advertising blitz. Microsoft is pushing Bing as a decision engine, that helps people avoid 'search overload'. Clearly they are making a run at Google's dominance in the search engine market. According to many different mdeia outlets, Bing's share of the search engine market is growing, but I wonder if this is the result of their multi-million dollar marketing campaign or people actually switching over to Bing.

If you haven't seen any of the Bing ads? They are available on Bing's YouTube page.

Interestingly enough, I came across this YouTube video a few days ago, perhaps an early look at Google's response to Microsoft???

Bing has a cool background picture...but in terms of raw search engine power, google is still more robust and useful.
