QuickBooks Payroll Error PS033 usually occurs when the CPS folder contains a damaged file or when there’s an issue with your payroll subscription. Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this error:

Step 1: Update QuickBooks to the Latest Version

1. Open QuickBooks and go to the Help menu.
2. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3. Click Update Now and then Get Updates.
4. Restart QuickBooks and install the updates if prompted.

Step 2: Verify Your Payroll Subscription

1. Go to Employees > My Payroll Service > Account/Billing Information.
2. Log in with your Intuit account information and verify that your subscription is active.

Step 3: Rename the CPS Folder

1. Close QuickBooks.
2. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\Payroll\CPS (replace “20XX” with your QuickBooks version).
3. Right-click on the CPS folder and select Rename.
4. Change the name to CPSOLD.
5. Restart QuickBooks and try updating the payroll tax table again.
